Arcadia's Students Visit Christo's 16-day Installation The Gates in New York City

From February 12th through the 27th, Central Park was temporarily transformed into trails of vibrant color. Arching over the pathway were 7,500 pieces of saffron-colored fabric billowing through 16-foot high vinyl gates. The reason? Internationally acclaimed artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude.

These powerful lines by Harlem Renaissance writer Langston Hughes have challenged African-Americans to realize that they have a dream and that a dream deferred is still a dream, although it risks being drained of its initial passion...or of "[exploding]," as Hughes strikingly puts it.
